Jeff Brubaker’s company started humbly back in 2004 as a home-based business building carports. As he brought in roofing and lumber supplies necessary for the business, area contractors began asking him to stock additional supplies for them. Over time, both the business and contractor requests continued to expand, and before long, he was stocking hardware and making deliveries to job sites.

Expanding into Retail

When Jeff realized that he needed the strength of a co-op to grow his business even more, he heeded others’ recommendations and chose Do it Best Corp. He utilized that partnership to immediately begin planning for future growth and along the way developed strong relationships with his territory manager and others at Do it Best Corp. who he relied on for consultative advice and retail expertise. Jeff realized that true growth would require moving to a new location, so when the opportunity arose, he acquired adjacent property and started working with the Do it Best Corp. Retail Performance and Signature Store Design teams to envision an entirely new store.

Building a New Store

Together, they set about creating the best-merchandised and most shoppable store possible. Many categories were added or expanded, including the exclusive Channellock® branded products, lawn and garden supplies, outdoor power equipment, and more. In the time leading up to completion, the Do it Best Corp. teams were regularly on site, making sure everything was done right and on schedule.

Enthusiastic Response

The new Pro X Home Center had its grand opening on April 1 of this year. The community response was overwhelming, and the positive momentum has continued each month. The old location averaged 350 tickets a day, with the new location routinely exceeding 500 a day. And while customers used to run in and out of the old store, they now grab a cart and shop leisurely, even gathering in the center of the store, stopping for a cup of coffee and talking with friends.

Jeff credits his honest partnership with Do it Best Corp. for his family’s ability to expand to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
